Clastro
An AI study companion: upload your course material, get notes, quizzes, podcasts and a voice tutor.

In shortI founded Clastro, an AI study app for university students, and I design and build it. About 300 students used the first version. I’m now reshaping it for the relaunch.
- SSituation
- University students have plenty of study material but no clear way through it. The first version of Clastro reached about 300 students, but the launch didn’t do well.
- TTask
- I founded Clastro. I own the product and the design and write most of the front-end code, and a full-stack engineer works with me. My job now is to reshape it for a relaunch.
- AAction
- I folded the class reps’ separate admin site into the main app, moved Clastro from an exam tool to an everyday one, and cut every marketing claim I couldn’t prove.
- RResult
- About 300 students used the first version, by my own count. The relaunch isn’t out yet, so there are no new numbers.

Students don’t lack material. They lack a way through it: slides, PDFs, photos of handwritten notes, past questions nobody has solved. Clastro turns whatever a student uploads into notes, flashcards, quizzes, practice exams and audio lessons, with an AI tutor on top. I founded it, I lead the design, and most of the code commits are mine.
SStage 1Situation

01Where it stands
The first launch didn’t do well. So this year is a relaunch, with a new structure and a new brand (coming soon).
TStage 2Task: my part
02My part
I founded Clastro, so I own the product end to end: who it’s for, what it does and how it looks. I also write most of the front-end code. A full-stack engineer works with me.

AStage 3Action: the decisions
03Decision 1 · One app, two roles
In the first version, class reps managed material and announcements through a separate admin site. In the new structure, a Class Rep is a student with a few extra powers in the same app. There’s no admin portal. Every student has a personal space and one class, joined with a class code.
04Decision 2 · From exam tool to everyday tool
The relaunch makes Clastro the place students manage academic life every day, not just before exams. Live classes still run on Zoom, Meet, Teams or YouTube Live. Clastro schedules them, tells the class, and afterwards turns each one into a summary, notes, flashcards and practice.
05Decision 3 · Cut every claim I couldn’t prove
The old landing page said “Study 5x faster” and “80% better retention”, and it showed five university logos. None of it had evidence or permission behind it, so I cut all of it. The story now rests on what the product does, plus the one number I can stand behind: about 300 students.
RStage 4Result
- 300+Students on the first version
My own count from the first launch, not an analytics export.
06Result so far
About 300 students used the first version. That’s my own count, not an analytics export. The relaunch isn’t out, so there’s nothing new to measure yet.
Next: finish the brand, redesign the app on it, and relaunch. I’ll add usage numbers after the relaunch.
